I would recommend "The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger. The "Catcher in the Rye" is a psychological novel based more specifically on how events affect a character's mind instead of the events themselves. In this novel a young man named Holden flunks out of school and is heading home to New York to see his parents. Holden is a troubled teen who is trying to find his place in this world, after failing out of three different schools. Many times throughout "The Catcher in the Rye" Holden has flashbacks of events during his childhood where he is reminded of things he has done. Throughout the story Holden feels that he is all alone in the world and that he is on a different orbit than the rest of the world. Overall "The Catcher in the Rye" is a very interesting novel that I would recommend to everyone.
