When I began reading this book I had high hopes and the beginning did not disappoint I hope the rest lives up to my expectations. The last one I read was the one before this, I forget the name though... what did you guys think about it.

I am really enjoying this book so far. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Alex Rider book series, it is primarily about a 14 year old spy who lives in Great Britain and is involved with the British secret service. Lots of interesting things have occurred in the first half of Scorpia. The story begins in a secret meeting room for the criminal organization "Scorpia." It's kind of funny because this criminal organization named Scorpia is the same of the book. I think author Anthony Horowitz used this to foreshadow that the Scorpia organization will have a significant output to what happens in the story. During Scorpia's secret meeting, a lady named Julia Rothman briefs her colleagues about project "Invisible Sword." This is a plan to murder children aged 12-14 in Great Britain, as well as to destroy the alliance between Great Britain and the United States. I was amazed that Scorpia would even plan to carry out something like this. I hope Alex Rider comes up with a way to stop project "Invisible Sword." The first half of Scorpia was very exciting, and I hope the second half will be just as exciting!

Wow, I just finished reading the second half of "Scorpia" and it did not disappoint! Alex Rider, while attending a party, ran into an assassin for SCORPIA named Nile. Alex Rider was left for dead in this water room, but miraculously escaped. Alex Rider runs into the assassin Nile once again, and this time he is taken to Julia Rothman. Julia Rothman offers Alex a job at SCORPIA, which he accepts after Rothman tells him that SCORPIA had hired his father John Rider as an assassin. I was amazed that Alex Rider accepted the job offer. I was almost certain that he would reject that offer, but surprisingly he accepted it. Another thing that surprised me was to learn that Alex's father was an assassin for SCORPIA. Alex was informed that his father was killed by the M16, which is the organization Alex used to work for. I'm not completely sure if Rothman is telling the truth about Alex's dad, or if she is just making up a story to turn Alex Rider against the M16, as well as to get possibly help from Alex. SCORPIA then sends a letter to the British government informing them about the power of "Invisible Sword." To prove the power of "Invisible Sword" SCORPIA plans on killing the entire English B National football team without using any weapons. I thought this was a pretty gutsy threat because it would be so difficult to accomplish. SCORPIA ends up succeeding by killing all the British football players. After this happens, Alan Blunt, the head of MI6, takes Alex to a COBRA meeting to figure out what Invisible Sword is and how to stop it. With Alex's help, they determine that SCORPIA embedded gold-encased nanoshells into the football players' bloodstream. Doing this the football players died instantly without anybody noticing how they were killed. SCORPIA will then kill London's schoolchildren, including Alex. Even though Alex is helping SCORPIA. Alex agrees to help MI6 out and pretends to come back to Scorpia. I thought this was a smart decision and will benefit him in the future. Alex learns that his father was a double agent for MI6, and the bridge scene was staged. In the final scene, as Alex exits the MI6 headquarters, a SCORPIA assassin and successful sniper shoots him in the chest, but he felt no pain. He collapses, and loses consciousness. The second half of SCORPIA was much more action packed and interesting then the first in my opinion. I can't wait to read the next story in the Alex Rider series.
