Chapters 1-4: In the first chapter the book introduces Atticus Finch, his children and their family immagration to America. Atticus is a lawyer that works in Maycomb, which is a small town. Scout and Jem are his two children. It is a hot summer for Jem and Scout, through their summer they meet a kid named Dill. Dill is visiting his aunt for the summer and becomes really good friends with Jem and Scout. Later on Dill becomes the leader of the pack and decides that through the rest of summer they should mess with mean Boo Radley(the so called freak of the town.) Summer ends and school starts; it's Scout's first year to go to school, but she hates school because the teacher makes her feel guilty about her ability to read. One day, as Jem and Scout walk by the Radley's house, they spot chewing gum in a hollow part of a tree. Scout decides to take some for her and Jem, but once she shows them to hi he slaps it out of her hand because it came from the Radley's tree.So on and so forth summer comes up again, and Dill comes back to Maycomb only to mess with Boo Radley with Jem and Scout. When Dill and Jem attempt to put a note on Boo's widow Atticus catches them and makes them swear not to mess with the Radley's.

Chapters 5-8:In these chapters you have to know what to do with very little you got like billed a snowman out of mud for the first time in years Maycomb endures a real winter. But tragedy strikes in their neighborhood because Miss Maudie’s house caught on fire. The kids watched as it burnt and surprisingly Boo Radley wrapped a blanket around Scout and she does not realize that Boo’s hand is at work until Jim explains things to Atticus after the fire. Originally portrayed as a freak and a lunatic, Boo Radley continues to gain the sympathy of the children in these chapters.

Chapters 9-12: For Scout school just keeps getting worse for her. She gets into a fight with a boy because he called her father a "n****r lover." And her teachers do not like her. To add onto that Atticus is defending Tom Robison, who is a black that is being accused of raping a white woman. Christmas time comes and Scout and Jem get together with their Uncle Jack and Aunt Alexandra, and that also goes bad. Atticus is so caught up on the trial that he has to travel a lot. So Jem and Scouts babysitter is their maid Calpurnia, a black woman, who decides to take them to her church.

Chapters 13-16:Dill’s account of his family troubles reminds both Scout and the reader of the Finch household’s good fortune.Though he disobeys his father,he does so not petulantly but maturely. The now mature Jim leads Scout and Dill into town on the night that Atticus faces the lynch mob.but becoming a man is very hard.I thank this is about growing up to become a man or a woman.

Chapters 17-20: The trial commences and Atticus provides physical and medical evidence that Tom Robinson did not rape Mayella Ewell. That her father did indeed beat her, she lusted onto Tom, and then accused him of rapeing her. Jem is sure that Atticus will win but instead Tom is said to be guilty.

Chapters 21-24: The story in these chapters is "very" racist. They state that blacks do not have the right to be in this court. But then Atticus told them that they had to let him in so it could be a fair trial but at this time whites did not care for blacks. But the jury was all white so he knew that he was going to be convicted because of his color even though they have the physical and medical evidence.

Chapter 25-28: After the trial Jem seems to have been maturing into a kinder young gentleman while Scout stays wild. Tom later tries to run away and gets shot during the escape. And more is to come because Bob Ewell cursed and swore revenge on Atticus. Halloween comes up, and there is a big Halloween banazaa at the school. Jem decides to take Scout and him to the school and they had a wonderful time. After the party Scout and Jem stay behind because Scout felt that she messed up the Halloween play, so she was a bit embarrased. As they walked home they started hearing foot steps behind them and before they could get to their street somebody comes up and attackes Jem and Scout. Jem kept fighting 'til the strugglng went silent. Now Scout was wearing a costume so she couldn't see what was going on. But she heard her attacker and somebody else fighting. She takes off her costume and sees that someone is carrying her brother to their home. Scout gets home and sees that Dr. Reynolds has come to check on Jem. Later they see that Bob Ewell had been stabbed.

I thank this book is about not judging other people before you get to know them just by others peoples ideas about how bad Radley is and that he is so grouse. I thank you should not judge a person on the color of there skin but by there personality.

I believe that the books purpose is to teach us about growing up and the truth between justice and injustice. Scout learns how to grow through many people in her life. Like Atticus, who taught her that you never know a person till you put yourself into their shoes. Jem and Scout also learned that the world is very corrupt, even their little "perfect" town. But only you can decide to so right or wrong.
