How do you like the book so far? I think that the author, William Golding, should of told us how they arrived on the island and how none of the kids are hurt. Also how Jack has a knife when he is a chorus singer. I think that Ralph is too hard on Jack because he was excited to finally catch a pig and didn't mean to forget the fire.

This book is really taking a while for it to get better so far. Although It did get more interesting when Ralph sees the boat at the end on the chapter. I am confused by why William didn't tell what happened before they became stuck on an island. Also, I agree with Jimmy that Ralph was too hard on Jack, because Jack was just doing his job. Ralph should have been mad at the people who had to take responsibility of the fire, but left to help hunt. I felt kinda bad for Ralph, because he really wanted to get home.

I think that the groups should of worked a lot harder to stay together, even if Jack wanted to do more hunting and Ralph wanted to keep the fire going, they could do both. Just get a rotation going for the fire and you can hunt when your not watching the fire. I think that they should actually see the beast in the day time and see how dangerous it is before they decide what they're going to do about it.

Ralph, Jack, and the hunters should go try to at least see the beast in the day time. Then they would find that its just a dead person. They might even be able to find a knife or something useful on the person. The most useful thing about doing this though, is that they don't have to be scared of a beast. Ralph should try to get Jack back in his group, because he is the best hunter they have. So He should put their differences that they have behind them, and work together.

Overall I would rate this book a five. I didn't like this book that much in the beginning but the end was pretty good. I didn't like how the hunters didn't know they were beating up Simon. First they would be really close and should see him, second simon would be crying out and they should of heard them. I liked the part at the end when Ralph was being chased and everyone was looking for him. I think that he should of put one more chapter in about how they are reacting to the real life again, overall it wasn't my favorite book.

I liked the ending of this book a lot. When I was reading it, I couldn't think of a way Ralph could get away. This book really shows how, without rules, people can turn into animals really quickly. When they were scared, They killed simon without even thinking about it. Then the boys killed Piggy by crushing him with a stone. Once Piggy died, things got crazy, because Piggy was the only one who could really think logically. Piggy dying, really symbolized the final bits of sanity leaving the island. Even Ralph went crazy while he ran from the hunters. This book shows light onto why rules and adults are so important to communities. I would rate this book a four out of five.
