"The Magician's Nephew" By: C.S. Lewis
Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer go on an adventure with the accidental help of Digory's Uncle, Andrew. Uncle Andrew developed two rings with the color of yellow and two more with green. The rings transport you to another world. When Digory has to rescue Polly from the world, they both find Queen Jadis (AKA: The White Witch) and when the children try to go back to their world, the queen goes with them. She causes chaos and destruction while she's there for a short period of time. Then Digory takes the queen, Polly, Uncle Andrew, the cabby, and the cabby's horse, Strawberry to another world that they haven't seen before. Then a they hear a sweet song and it's coming from a big lion. (AKA: Aslan) Then new life springs up everywhere along with animals of all sorts. Then Digory asks Aslan if there is anything he can bring back to make his mother well again. Aslan sends him on a mission to get a special fruit. When he returns, Aslan tells Digory to throw the fruit in the mud by the river. From that, grows a big, beautiful tree what has fruit, and that fruit is what Digory must take to make his mother better. When everyone goes back to where they are supposed to be, Digory's mother becomes well again, and after that, Digory plants the fruit core in the backyard. When years past by, a big storm came through and tore down the tree. Digory uses the tree for firewood and uses the rest to make a big wardrobe.
I chose this book because it tells how Narnia became Narnia. It also has a good adventure to it, also!
I really enjoyed this book and I think that others will too.
People who like to know how certain things came to be and like adventure would probably like this book.

Review of Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
First off, I chose this book because I enjoyed an animated movie by the same title. The movie had an interesting story line, and it was very good. So, I decided to see if the director of the movie kept the storyline and other details close to the book.
Howl's Moving Castle is mainly about a girl named Sophie who is the eldest of three. After Sophie's father dies and Sophie's stepmother does not know what to do with Sophie and her two sisters, her stepmother, Fanny, sends the youngest sister, Martha, to be an apprentice to a witch; the middle sister, Lettie, is sent to be an apprentice at a bakery in Market Chipping where they live; and Sophie, since she is the eldest, stays for an apprenticeship at the family hat shop. Sophie is shy and does not mind staying where she is at because she is good at making hats, and also the eldest of three is not supposed to make anything of themselves. In their land of Ingary, the people are scared of two people specifically, the Witch of the Waste and Wizard Howl (who sucks the souls of young girls). So one day when Sophie is selling hats in the shop, a mysterious woman enters the shop asking to see hats, but turns out to have a problem with Sophie. The women turns out to be the Witch of the Waste and sets a horrible curse on Sophie in which she is transformed into an old lady. Sophie, having no other choice, sets off to not burden any of her family. Sophie comes upon the wizard Howl's moving castle while on this journey. Sophie has no idea how much she will discover about herself once she enters the castle. She'll make a deal with a fire demon, brave Howl and the Witch of the Waste, and the most difficult thing, cleaning Howl's muddled castle.
I love the book. I will probably fall in love with it on page one everytime I read it. The movie keeps the storyline and the details are pretty close, so it makes it that much better when you can see what someone else saw of this book.
The person who would enjoy this book would be someone who likes those magical worlds that you can fall in love with. There are romances that are discreetly shown. Someone who likes magic would love this book.

Katniss Everdeen is a 16 year old living in a future nation called Panem with her mom and younger sister Prim. The Capitol rules 12 surrounding districts and they living in the last district. Because the districts rebelled, each has to send two people to compete against each other. In order for someone to win, they have to be the last one living in the arena, which can be anything from a desert to a jungle to a cold wasteland. Katniss is chosen and has to compete, and the book is about how she tries to survive in the arena. The book is really good, be sure to read it.

The book I chose to read was the first book of the Alera Codex series, called The Furies of Chalderon by Jim Butcher.
This book is about several characters, which can get confusing, but it is mostly about a boy named Tavi and a girl named Amara. They live in a world in which every person has the ability to control elemental creatures called Furies. Well, almost everyone. Tavi, well over the age one normally gets one, has no Fury to call his own. He lives with his uncle and aunt on a sheep farm and tends to the sheep. But when he tries to do a favor for a girl, he looses the sheep. After going with his uncle to get them back, they find the sheep all killed and discover a race once ran out of their boundaries are coming back once more. The Marat are savages and act as such. After a near death experience, Tavi is rescued by Amara and he hides her, as she is on the run. And so Tavi, Amara and his family all go on a few connected, but separate journeys that will change the fate of their home.
I will always love Jim Butchers books. They are always so well developed and so interesting... even if it is very obviously written by a man. His books are awesome either way.
Anyone who enjoys an immersible, well written and humorous fantasy should give this book a try!

The book I chose to read and review first was Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. It is the first book in the Hush, Hush series (Crescendo, Silence, and Finale being the sequels to Hush, Hush).
Nora Grey, our main protagonist, thinks she lives a pretty average life with her mom in their farmhouse in Cold-Water, Maine. That is, until Patch Cipriano shows up, becomes her biology partner, and much to her dismay, begins to turn her life upside down. Even so, Nora somehow feels drawn to Patch despite their personalities being completely opposite. After strange events start happening to Nora, like her falling off a roller-coaster only to realize afterwards that it was all her imagination, she starts to grow curious, and question, about everything and everyone around her. Meanwhile, Nora's best friend, unknowing to all that is going on in Nora's life, sets them up on a date with the mysterious guys, Jules and Elliot. One, if not both, having gone to a school where there had been a brutal murder months before their encounter with Nora. Things take many twists and turns in this book, and it'll be really hard to put down once you start reading it.
I chose this book because it caught my eye, both the cover and the summary. I've read many books like this one, and they always are great. This was my first fallen angel book to read, but it was the best one yet. I loved reading this book and can't wait to finish reading the series to find out about Nora and Patch and everything else the series has to offer.
I recommend this book to anyone who is interested. Girls will probably like it more since it has romance in it, but it also has quite a bit of action *and tons of fighting*! Whoever does decide to read this book will not regret it, I promise you!

For my first book review I chose to read Web of Air by Philip Reeve. It is the sequel to Fever Crumb, the second book in the Fever Crumb series.
First off it starts with a new character named Arlo Thursday. He begins to climb a cliff as these birds called angels follow him, angels are mutant birds who have fingers at the end of their wings and can speak . Well there is a storm coming and him father and grandfather were working in the shipyard. His family was the best ship builders ever on the island. As he reached the top the angels began to yell “wave!” as a giant wave came closer and closer to the island as he ran. When the wave subsided there was nothing left but him and the angels. Then this character does not appear for awhile as it returns to the main character, Fever. Her and her new friends on a traveling theatre arrive in mayda also known as the world’s end. Here they shay for a few days and Fever runs into some obstacles with a religious group. And meets another engineer named Dr. Teal. She hears of these stories of a boy who is trying to create a flying machine his name is Arlo so she goes and finds him but by doing this she gets mixed up in a lot of trouble. She then is kidnapped by Flynn who is then killed by Vishniak who also killed another man who tried to fly. Then she is chased and returns to Arlo’s House where she is then kidnapped by Fat Jago. He then has her tied to some tracks so she will be killed but then Arlo saves her. And they take his boat to the isles where he grew up. They stay in the watchtower to build the Aeroplane. Fever and Arlo begin to develop a strong relationship as they work together. Arlo finally flies but not for long then he crashes and they have to rebuild it.by this time both Fat Jago and Dr.Teal know where they are so Fat Jago gets his crew on one of his largest boats to the isles and Teal and the mayor hop on a small boat. They fight off the men but Jago gets up and as he’s attacking Fever he throws a bullet chain into the fire and the bullets explode. So Jago died from the shots too the back. When Dr.Teal shows up he is not himself as he holds a gun to Arlo’s head. Quickly Fever fights back and gets Teal tied up.. But Arlo is hurt from a bullet to the arm. She gets in the aeroplane and flies over the ocean but is shot down. Luckily her mother rescues her and later she awakes in the ship. But she learns that her mother was involved with trying to kill Arlo so to keep him safe she makes a deal that if he never tries to flay again he can live and she must go to the priestess on mayda and tell her that the goddess told her that flying is bad. So she did but Arlo no longer trusts her. And when she goes to his house it is destroyed and her mother tries to comfort her but she runs to the dock to see if he is still thee but its to late he is already sailing away. She cries after him yelling his name but he doesn’t turn around she says she wants to go with him but he gust fades into the distance. She is once again all alone and now she must go back to London.
I chose this book because I loved the first one and it is very well written.
My opinion This book is great you really get attached to the characters and you care for them. Also the ending is really sad and when I finished it I didn’t cry but the second I walked out of my room I burst into tears. If you like steampunk and adventure I would recommend this series and if you like feeling what the character feels. But if you don’t want to cry don’t read this. But it is a very good book.

The first book I chose to read this summer was "The Hunger Games", by Suzanne Collins. The book is about a sixteen year old girl named Katniss Everdeen and her life in a world called Panam and the unfortunate events that happened the day of the reaping. Katniss lived in the outskirts of what they called the districts. Her district being district 12. There were 12 main districts all centered around the Capitol. Presidet Snow was the head of the Capitol. Every year in Panem is an event called the Hunger Games, in which two contestants, a boy and a girl, are picked from each district to compete in a "game" to the death. In the reaping each persons name is entered in according to the year they are. it starts at age 12 and goes up to 18. The children can chiose to enter their name in more times for extra rations. There is only one victor. The victor is then showered with gifts and thrown a party in their district and go on a tour of the districts. The day of the reaping is the start of Katniss' problems. This year is her younger sister Prims first reaping. There is no way prim could get picked in her first year. Right? Well as the names are being drawn the anticipation grows. Girls names are drawn first. The name is picked and its Prim. Katniss sees Prim being walked to the front and without thinking runs towards her and as she is pushed back, she volunteers for Prim. A volunteer is very rare in the outcast districts. Katniss along with the boy tribute from district 12, Peeta Mellark, are taken away to the Capitol. During their short stay to prepare for the games they are cleansed, beautified, interviewed, showed, and trained, for what may be their final stay anywhere. For Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, their love may be the only thing able for them to survive and get out alive together. I chose this book because I am a huge fiction fan and I have heard on the talk about this book and wanted to see if it was worth while myself. It sure was worth while. This book was so good I couldn't put it down. It had twists and turns, a love story, action, and a plot so creative, it was everything I hoped a book to be like. The people who would enjoy this book would be fantasy, sic-first, futuristic story lovers, and fiction lovers. This book I think is a huge success and everyone should be able to read it. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series and seeing what else lies ahead. "The Hunger Games" had me hungry for more!

I have chosen Pretties by Scott Westerfield, as one of three books I chose to read this summer. Pretties is the second book in his series after his first, Uglies, which I chose as my book recommendation. Pretties captures the ideal world that every teenage girl wants to live in. From the first book in the series, we know that the authorites gave Tally an option to either give up where her new friend Sha and her friends were and have the operation done, or to not go after Sha and be an Ugly for the rest of her life. Now in Pretties, we know that Tally has gave Sha up to the authorities, she has undergone her surgery to become a 'Pretty' when she turned 16. What she was waiting for her entire life had finally became reality. She was popular, had an amazingly hot boyfriend, went to all the parties, and her closet was filled with bright and unique looking clothes. But something was wrong, was it to good to be true? There's something nagging Tally about all the nonstop parties, high-tech gagets, and the complete and total freedom of the Pretty world, that something important was wrong. Then Tally recieves a message from one of Sha's friends about her ugly past. When Tally reads the message, she drops cold and remembers everything bad about the Pretty world and understands why Sha never wanted to turn Pretty. Fighting between the decision to run away and find Sha, or to stay and live the dream life she's always wanted drives Tally insane. Not only does she have to live with this question always on her mind, but now the uthorities know that she has this information and doesn't intend for her to live with her knowing it. Now it's not a decision to Stay or leave, It's a decision between life and death. Tally decides to run away and find Sha, eventually she does and their happy for the moment, but then the authorities arrive and change everything for not just Tally, but Sha and her friends too.
I chose this book because it is a great novel for not only for girls to understand that you don't have to be perfect to everyone you meet in your life but also to come around the idea that image isn't everything, and that no matter how great you look there might be something very very ugly under the clothes, and make-up that you wear. A soul, and everyone will find out if yours is a good one or otherwise.
My Opinion about this book, that it is absolutley phenomenal. I don't think that it is just great for girls, but boys too. If boys read this novel, they might understand the insecurity that some girls have about themselves and they wont judge so much on appearance like they do. Don't think that I think appearance is nothing, but it is not everything. I, Myself have a hard time judging on appearance but I can't help it because society has turned to that now. At least in High School anyways. I shouldn't be like that, and i try every day not to be, but sometimes the worst comes out in everyone.
I think that both genders would enjoy this novel, but girls more than boys would. Only because girls can relate more than boys. Especially girls, who have a hard time accepting themselves for who they are and their purpose here. And my advice for those girls is too accept who you are because everyone else is taken and there's only one you.

The book I chose to read was "The Hunger Games", by Suzanne Collins. The book is basically about the story of Katniss Everdeen and her unfortunate events during the 74th annual reaping day and the period that follows. She lives in what used to be known as North America, now called Panem. In the center is what is known as the Capitol and it is surrounded by twelve districts. Each year to enforce law and to keep another war from happening, the Capitol enforces an event known as The Hunger Games. A national tv event about the contestants and a fight to the death. The Capitol selects the contestants from each district. One boy and one girl between the age of 12 and 16. Katniss volunteers in place of her sister Primrose and is stuck to face what lies ahead. Her and her fellow contestant Peeta Mellark are to face the gruesome events and use their love to try and save their lives during the game. Only one is allowed to win. The rest die a horrible death. Katniss and Peeta must make choices that weigh their survival if they ever want to return home. The reason I chose this book was because I have heard a lot about it, I've seen the movie and I wanted to learn a little more of the inside story of the book. This book was such a fun and exciting book to read and I'm glad I chose it. It was everything I look for in a book. I think anyone who loves a good story and love sci-fi, fantasy, and an amazing story should definitely read this book. I didn't want to out it down.

Unwholly by Neil Shusterman is a thrilling and gripping futuristic sequel to Unwind. This sequel is about the survival of Connor, Lev, and Risa who survived a bombing at a harvest camp in the previous book Unwind. Connor, known as the Akron AWOL, protects a group of runaway Unwinds in Arizona with the help of Risa who is paralyzed from the neck down. The term "unwind," explained in the first book, is when the parent of a child decides to have he or she put into the divided state. All the body parts of this child, being in the age of thirteen to seventeen, are given to others. This procedure may sound like a good thing similar to organ doning but it was used to get rid of troubled teens who rioted against the country. Neil Shusterman grabs the attention of the reader by realing them in with the creation of a "superhuman" named Cam who was made out of all the best unwind parts in the country. The story continues with the journey of Connor, Risa, and Lev who meet several people who make them change and survive the world of unwinding. With a shocking twist at the end of the book, Neil Shusterman had me reading page after page not wanting to put the book down. As disturbing as the book was, Shusterman grabs the attention of the reader in making them realize that real life's future could be this way. I absolutely loved this book and now I don't know what to do that I'm done reading it! If you want and gripping thriller of the future with a disturbing twist definitely read Unwholly by Neil Shusterman!

Requiem by Lauren Oliver is the third and final book of the Delirium trilogy. I chose to read this book because I had already read the first two of the series, Delirium and Pandemonium, and had been anxiously awaiting the release of Requiem for over a year. This series is about an alternate present in which love is thought to be a disease (referred to as "amor deliria nervosa"). The symptoms of amor deliria nervosa are categorized into four phases: Phase One: preoccupation; difficulty focusing, dry mouth, perspiration, sweaty palms, fits of dizziness and disorientation, reduced mental awareness; racing thoughts; and impaired reasoning skills. Phase Two: periods of euphoria; hysterical laughter and heightened energy, periods of despair; lethargy, changes in appetite; rapid weight loss or weight gain fixation, loss of other interests, compromised reasoning skills; distortion of reality, disruption of sleep patterns; insomnia or constant fatigue, obsessive thoughts and actions, paranoia; insecurity. Phase Three: difficulty breathing, pain in the chest, throat, or stomach, difficulty swallowing; refusal to eat, complete breakdown of rational faculties; erratic behavior; violent thoughts and fantasies; hallucinations and delusions. Phase Four: emotional or physical paralysis (partial or total), and death. In order to cure amor deliria nervosa, a cure was invented. The cure is a mandatory surgery that all children receive by the age of mental maturity, which varies depending on the person. The cure is a surgery that removes part of the brain, therefore disabling you to love. Some side effects of the cure include never crying and dreamless sleep. In order to eliminate all protesters, the government bombed any town who was against the cure, and caged in the rest of the population. A few groups of invalids still roam free in the Wilds (outside of the walls of the cities), but they aren't bothered until the third book, Requiem. Requiem is about the main character Lena's journey through the Wilds in an attempt to bring down the government and stop the cure. Although this story is full of action and adventure, it is also a romance novel. Lena is stuck in between the love of two boys; Her first love Alex, and her second, Julian. Throughout the novel she must not only break down the walls of the cities and defeat the cure, but she must also look within herself to select her true love. I absolutely loved this book, because the series was incredible, and it was the perfect finale. I was absolutely unable to put it down; it was a compelling and beautiful read. If you like action, adventure, a hint of sci-fi, and most importantly romance, then you definitely fit into the audience demographic for this book.

I didn't finish the lightning thief seris my self. The Lost Hero is about three demigods who go to Canada to talk to the North wind. That's all I'm going to say with out spoiling it. I loved the lost hero it was a very good book I couldn't stop reading it!

Review - "The Hunger Games" - Book 1 - By Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games. An event given to 12 districts every year. A story about a 16 year old girl, Katniss Everdeen, trying to survive in a computer generated world. From each district, a boy and a girl is chosen to represent their district in a game. It is chosen randomly, so suspense rises each and every year. Each district is given a certain amount of time to be properly trained to fight against other districts. It is said that the Hunger Games was started by the district known as District 13. District 13 rebelled against the Capitol, a place filled with riches. As district 13 had gotten destroyed, it was known to them that every year, there had to be some remembrance of the tragic event. Thus the Hunger Games was created. There is only 1 victor and the rest have to fight for what they were chosen for. The rules change as events unfold. I chose this book because after seeing the movie, I should see what changes was made or how things had to be rearranged somehow. This book was very adventurous in my opinion. Things happening at a sudden moment, getting attached to a character from the beginning of the book, or just having too much fun with all the fairy tales happening at one moment. As I was reading, I always imagine what the scenery would look like in my perspective. I did enjoy this book as much as I do any other book. It does depend on if the plot makes any sense or the story just brings everything together. I recommend this book to anyone who would like to actually feel like as if you were put into the Hunger Games. This made me look into this set of books even more. I would like to read on about what will happen and how things will turn out once they are brought back to their home town.
