Review- The Lost Hero - By Rick Riodan
The lost hero is a spin-off series from the extremely popular Percy Jackso series about the tales and adventures of 3 "demi-gods" who have adventures attempting to save the world from the evil Ancient Greek Mythology in the Modern World. But in the Heros of Olympus series after a series of events that happen to Percy he loses his memory. I won't say much more becuase going into too much more detail would spoil the plot.

My first book is "Take care of mom" by Shin Kyung-sook who is a Korean author. This story is about importance of mom. At the subway, the family lost mom. You can think that mom can come back home by herself, but she can't read anything, she is disabled. They make flyers, and they started fighting during finding mom and notice how important she is. They found Witness, and every time they found witness, they said "Her eyes are big like a cow, she wear blue slipper and has hurt on her foot". And Witnesses are found at where the oldest son of her lives. She always be sorry to her oldest son because she think she make him be someone else, not what he want to be. He collapse and is committed that as they find mom, he won't let his mom be sorry to her. Finally they find mom and they see another side which never they have seen, of mom. The reason why i choose this book is that this book remind me every mom always love their family and sometime we forget because she always be right next to me, close to me. This book is just amazing, little bit hard to understand Author's intention. I think the novels are be better when there is something hidden, because we can image. I guess every people might enjoy this book, because people love their mom but i guess many people forget express their love to mom.

I read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins as my first selection for this summer. This fabulous book is about a 16 year old girl, Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a government controlled country. Throughout the first part of the book, Katniss faces many difficulties the death of her father which leaves her family even poorer than before. She is left to care for her family. Every year in the country of Panem, District 12, along with all of the other districts are forced to select 2 tributes, one boy and one girl, to compete in the annual Hunger Games. In these "games," the tributes must fight to the death in an arena located in the Capitol city. The only way you can win this game is if you are the last tribute alive. Most people all over Panem hate the Hunger Games, except the people in the capitol, who gain from this horrible event. This years particular Reaping day in District 12 catches the eyes of people all across Panem. Prim Everdeen, Katniss's little sister is selected for the Hunger Games. Katniss adores her little sister and is the one to protect her, so she did what any big sister would do, volunteer to take her little sister's place. Peeta Mellark, the male tribute, and Katniss are taken to the Capitol to be trained for the games and made to look more beautiful and is taught how to get sponsors. Katniss must survive and be the victor of the games so she can fulfill the promise that she made to her sister. I chose this fantastic book because my sister told me that is was the best book that she has ever read. I also really like the movie :). This is my favorite book. It is filled with a good love story too, which I LOVE! It is so amazing! EVERYBODY NEEDS TO READ THIS BOOK BECAUSE THEY WOULD LOVE IT! Who knew a book could be so breathtaking???

The book I chose to review and read was Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling. I know most everyone has read this book, but I just reread it for the first time in a couple of years and I really do love it! It's my favorite in the series.
Harry is living at his aunt and uncle's house without any news from Ron and Hermione. He wants to know what goes on in the wizarding world, so whenever he's called to the Weasely's house he's understandably upset. The adults are in the Order of the Phoenix, which is a society dedicated to stopping Voldemort. The kids go back to school, and there's a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Umbridge, who's absolutely horrible and eventually replaces Dumbledore as headmaster, because Dumbledore is fired (he disappears) because of the D.A., Dumbledore's Army, which is a club Harry illegally started to teach actual Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Fudge is most afraid of Dumbledore rising against him. Harry has to start Occlumency to protect his mind from Voldemort, but it doesn't work very well and Harry dreams of Voldemort hurting Sirius, his godfather. So Harry goes to the place he thinks Sirius is, only to find that Voldemort was tricking him, and he just needed him to take his prophecy off the wall. Then Sirius and other members of the Order of the Phoenix arrive, and Sirius ends up actually getting killed (spoiler!) by Bellatrix. Dumbledore comes back and it's proved that Harry and Dumbledore were telling the truth the whole time.
I love this book and it's my favorite in the series! I definitely enjoyed it, the first time I read it and also recently. You should read the entire Harry Potter series, it's worth it! I recommend this book to everyone!

The first book I chose to read, is Enders Game by: Orson Scott Card. The theme of Enders Game is the idea of a game, throughout the book the main character; Ender is forced to participate in many games. Although Ender wins all of the games he is placed in, he thinks nothing of them. He thinks that they are simply games, when they are truly much more. It is written from the point of view of Ender a very young child who is portrayed very maturely. He is in a time of war, which forces the government to constantly observe children for new military leaders. Ender is chosen and is forced to leave home with out his brother or sister. He is placed in "Battle School" where children, much like Ender are placed in Armies and are put up against each other in a null gravity arena. In the games they fight each other while the teachers and leaders of the school observe. Ender is under special observation by Colonial Graff the head of the battle school and who recruited Ender himself. Among the observations done at the school, the teachers use a game called the mind game. Ender is very interested in this game and finds himself playing constantly reaching farther in the game than others ever have. This also brings attention to Ender. In the time Ender is in battle school he climbs in ranks from being a "launchies" to leading his own army. While he is at battle school his brother and sister being intelligent like ender use the equivalent of our internet and become very influential world leaders under false pseudonyms. Ender is chosen to leave battle school and is sent to command school. Here in command school, he meets Mazar Rackham who saved the world in the last invasion of the "Buggers" the alien species the world is at war with. Mazar becomes his mentor and introduces Ender to yet another game. In the game he is in command of a squadron along with others he led in battle school and is forced to fight off "buggers" in the game. Ender is finally placed to one final test in the simulator, but it is different this time, he is being observed by many other military leaders amongst them Colonial Graff. Ender is faced with a near impossible test in which he has to sacrifice his ship, but also winning him the test. Ender is given glorious praise and is told that it was not only a game, that he was truly controlling real squadrons and has just saved the world. Ender reunites with his sister and they go far off to unknown bugger planets to colonize them. Here ender recognizes a scene from the mind game in battle school. The buggers had communicated to ender through the mind game telling him that it was a misunderstanding and they were not out to get the earth. Ender is given a egg of sorts that allows the bugger race to be reborn once again. The book ends with ender deciding to travel and to rebirth the bugger race. I read this book because it looked interesting and was a military strategy type sic-fi book. I enjoyed the book from the very begging because of the in depth descriptions of the null gravity and it continued to interest me and be a page turner. I would recommend this book to all ages, it is simple enough for young adults but adults would find interest in the story as well. Over all this book will always be one of my favorites and I find it fit for everyone.

The novel I chose to read, for my first review, is "Divergent" by Veronica Roth. This novel belongs to the young adult science fiction genre. The main character is Beatrice Prior, who lives in a controlling and complicated world. The story is set in Chicago, where the citizens are sorted and segregated into five different factions. Factions are like colonies, but each one is working together with a different job to do. The five Factions are Abnegation for the selfless, Amity for the peaceful, Erudite for the knowledgeable and intellegent, Candor for the honest, and Dauntless for the brave and reckless. Beatrice is born in Abnegation and it is traditional that when the youth of the five Factions are at the age of sixteen they take an aptitude test, just to see what Faction they are best suited for, they get to choose which factions they want to be apart of. After taking the test she finds out that she is qualified for Erudite, Abnegation, and Dauntless. This is something rare and dangerous, and she figures out that she is a Divergent. After that is the Choosing Ceremony where Beatrice chooses to go to Dauntless and her brother Caleb choosesbErudite. And throughout "Divergent" Beatrice is trying to figure out who she is, what Divergent means, and why she is a threat to the government. Later on, Beatrice, who later changes her name to Tris, is well-known to everyone as the "first initiate to jump off the building" and a "Stiff." She makes friends and enemies during her training and builds a romantic relationship with Four, who is their trainer. But Four is constantly antagonized by Eric, one of the five leaders in the Dauntless council. Tris figures out that Erudite is wanting control over all the five Factions and is teaming up with the Dauntless. It is up to Tris, Four, and Caleb to stop the Erudites from their invasions. The reason I chose this book is because my cousin had read it and she was saying how great the book is. But there was something that I found disturbing: like how in the middle of every action scene the author puts out Tris' thoughts that were really really descriptive. Although its strengths where its impact of suspense and the excitement to turn the other page to see what will happen next. It was a book that I have enjoyed because I find it exciting and I can't seem to put it down. I would consider recommending my friends and family to read this.

The Heroes of Olympus: The Mark of Athena, is the third book in the Heroes of Olympus series, written by Rick Riordan, the author of the best selling series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and the Kane Chronicles.
Before you even touch The Mark of Athena, I do strongly suggest reading the Percy Jackson series first, and then reading the first two books of The Heroes of Olympus, because The Mark of Athena has a lot of content that you may not understand if you have not read the previous books.
This book is about, as you may know, Greek Mythology, like in the Percy Jackson books. But in this series, the two main parts are Greek and Roman Mythology. If you did not know before, a long time ago, Greeks and Romans did not get along very well. Romans took the idea of Greek Gods, and gave them different names. Because of all this fighting between them, the Gods decided to not bring them together. That's why Camp Half-Blood, the training camp for Greeks, is located in New York, across the country from Camp Jupiter, the Roman training camp, located in Oakland.
The book tells the story of seven Demigods, Piper, Jason, Frank, Hazel, Leo, Annabeth, and Percy. Piper Mcleanis the daughter of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty. She is dating Jason Grace. Jason Grace is the son of Jupiter, the Roman king of the gods. Frank Zhang is the son of Mars, the Roman god of War. He is dating Hazel Levesque. Hazel Levesque is the daughter of Pluto, the Roman god of the underworld. Leo Valdez is the son of Hephaestus, the Greek god of fire and masonry. Annabeth Chase is the daughter of Athena, the Greek goddess of war, wisdom, and and Crafts. She is dating Percy Jackson. Percy Jackson is the son of Posiedon, the Greek God of the sea.
You know how we talked about the Greeks and Romans not getting along? Well this statement is proven true in the first part of the book. It all starts out when Annabeth, Jason, Piper, Leo, and Coach Hedge, a satyr from book one, ride the Argo II (Yes, the Argo! Leo found it and made adjustments to it, like installing Wii remotes to steer the ship, and the head of Festus as a weapon. Festus is a mechanical dragon that Leo found in the Lost Hero). They ride the Argo II down to Camp Jupiter to get Hazel, Frank, and Percy to start their quest from the Great Prophecy. The Prophecy is, "Seven half-bloods shall answer the call,To storm or fire the world must fall,An oath to keep with a final breath,And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death." The seven Demigods must figure out what this prophecy means and destroy the plan of Gaea, the Earth Goddess, who wants to destroy the Gods and take over the world with her army of Giants, who the Demigods have been fighting since the Lost Hero. Anyway, as they get to Camp Jupiter, the Romans feel threatened by the Greeks ad their ship, as it is a HUGE ship with many weapons. They get a little hyped up by Octavion, who is a powerful member of Camp Jupiter, but they are calmed by Reyna, as she suggests to Octavion to go up on the ship with Leo to show that it was harmless. Later on, the Argo II starts firing at the camp. They barely get out, and they find out it was Leo, but he was not acting like himself. On their journey, they come by many Gods, like Nemesis, the goddess of revenge. She gives Leo a fortune cookie, and tells him she can help him on their journey, for a price. The also face many creatures, like Eidolons. Eidolons are spirits that come into your body and control you. The Eidolons were the reason Leo fired at Camp Jupiter. Also, Athena comes to Annabeth telling her to follow the Mark of Athena.
What is the Mark of Athena, and will Annabeth figure it out? What else happens on their quest, and will they succeed? Find out in the Mark of Athena!

I chose this book, because I LOVE Greek Mythology! I love it's history and its depth. Also, because Rick Riordan reaches out to teens, using many things that relate to teens, with humor, romance, and mystery.
I think many people would love this book, but one person who sticks out for me is Isaac Leland Schmidel, because I know he likes the series, and he is very interested in books!

The book I read was called The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. She is know for her well know science fiction series Hunger games which caught my interest. In the future north America which becomes Panem which held thirteen districts and a capital. The districts started a rebellion to over throw the capital. The capital destroyed the rebellion and district thirteen. The Capitol also came up with the hunger games which would punish all 12 districts for what they did. One boy and one girl between the ages 12-18 will be selected to fight to the deaths with the other tributes. Katniss from district 12 volunteers for her sister who is selected. Her and a boy she barley knows named Peeta head to the capitol to train for the games. The day of the games come and then the countdown 3,2,1 may the odds be ever in your favor. I chose this book because I wanted to find out what my friends were making a big deal of this one book. I enjoyed this book because it was suspenseful and also gives you a view of what could happen in the future. I would recommend this book to people who like love and action stories and are curious about the future.

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl was the first book I read this summer. This is a novel about a 16 year old boy, named Ethan, from a small town who falls in love with a witch, in the book they use the term “Casters”, named Lena and on her 16th birthday she will be claimed for either the darkness or the light which means she will either be a bad witch or a good witch. Throughout the book they are trying to find a way to make sure she is claimed for the light so that they might have a chance at a normal teenage relationship.
I chose this book because my Aunt Robins watched the movie that was based off the book and love it. The book is always better than the movie so I bout it two days later and finished the 526 pages in three days and loved it. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy fiction or sappy teenage romances.

I'm very sorry this is so late, I've spent the week in Colorado without internet connection, and just got back. The first book that I read was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. In this book, it is Harry Potter's second year at Hogwarts, the school of witchcraft and wizardry. With a new year came new students, and a new defending of the dark arts teacher, the famous Professor Lockhart, known for defeating countless creatures of dark magic. As the school year unfolds, mysterious things start to happen. Students are found in the hallways, stiff like statues, cursed. Everyone believed that the unthinkable had happened, the Chamber of Secrets had been unlocked. The Chamber of Secrets was a myth, that the very first Slytherin himself had created it to be opened by his heir, to wipe out all muggle-borns he deemed unfit to be wizards. Most students suspected Harry Potter of being the heir of Slytherin, because he could speak the language of snakes, as Slytherin himself could, and that he had opened the chamber. Harry, Ron, and Hermione were determined to find who had done it, so they made a potion so they could ask Draco Malfoy, their prime suspect, if he was the heir. In the process, not only did they find that Malfoy was not the heir, but Hermione accidentally turned herself into a cat. While all this was happening, Harry kept hearing a voice that no one else could hear, saying things like, "Kill, tear, shred, must kill...".
After weeks of nothing happening, and all thoughts of the chamber had disappeared, the worst had happened. Hermione was found, cursed, and stiff as a statue. After finding a piece of paper stuck in her hand, Harry discovered that the creature was a giant snake with eyes that any direct eye contact would kill, and indirect eye contact would turn people to stone. It all fit together. The voice Harry could hear was the snake's, as it slithered through the pipes of the school. Harry and Ron found the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets in Moaning Myrtle's bathroom, and forced the so-called courageous Lockhart to come with them. After telling Harry and Ron that everything Lockhart claimed he had done was a lie, his memory spell backfired, and was left not knowing who he even was. As Ron stayed with Lockhard in the entrance to the chamber, Harry ventured on to kill the creature. What he found inside the chamber was Ginny Weasley, half alive, with the magic diary of Tom Riddle. Harry had found the diary earlier on, speaking to Tom through it, but Ginny stole it thinking Tom would tell Harry the secrets she wrote in it as well. Tom used Ginny's secrets and fears to control her to steal and kill any weakness of the snake, so it could kill Harry. Tom Riddle came out of the journal as a memory, and told Harry that he was in fact, a young Voldemort, and planned on killing Harry. In his time of most need, Dumbledore sent Harry his Phoenix, and the sorting hat, which gave Harry the sword of Griffendor, which he used to kill the snake, and used the snakes venom to destroy the journal, along with the memory of Tom Riddle. All those turned to stone were turned back, Ginny was forgiven, Lockhart was fired, and all was right again at Hogwarts.

I chose Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling, (summary above) because I had recently read the previous book, which I loved, and wanted to read more! (The last book ended on a cliffhanger, so I just had to find out what happens!) I really liked this book, though it isn't my favorite of the series because it is a bit slow in some parts. I think anyone who would be interested in escaping into a whole new world, or just looking for an interesting, fast paced, read would love this book, and the entire series!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J. K. Rowling. I chose to read this book because I have been meaning to read the series for a very long time now. I am a big fan of the movies and have skipped around in the books, but never read every one all the way through, starting with the first. So, that is what I am doing now. I would recommend this book to anyone! Specifically people who enjoy fantasy and fiction. It is for such a wide variety of reading levels! It is a big book, but a quick read. The story is about a strange boy named Harry Potter. He is famous in the wizard world for his lightning shaped scar across his forehead, which was given to him by the dark Lord Voldemort who tried to kill him as an infant, but wasn't able to for whatever reason, though he was able to kill Harry's parents. So the orphaned Harry went to live with his aunt, uncle, and cousin who all treated him like he was the lowest possible form of scum that could possibly exist. They were so ashamed of having a wizard in their family at all that they failed to even tell Harry what he was, or even anything about his past. The first time he ever heard of the wizard world at all was when on his birthday, he received a strange letter. It was from Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. So, Harry went off to Hogwarts to learn about magic and his past. He made many friends, like Ron and Hermione, learned how to play the magic sport Quidditch. and was very happy in the Gryffindor house, until sneaking out at night caused him to lose many points for his house, putting their rivals in the lead for house cup and turning the whole Gryffindor house against him, and turning the whole Gryffindor . But there was more going on at Hogwarts that Harry, Ron, and Hermione weren't supposed to know about at all. They found out that the school was hiding and keeping safe the Sorcerer's Stone, which will give the wizard who possesses it the Elixir of Life and the ability to change anything they want into gold. The kids suspected that Professor Snape was trying to steal it, then found out that unicorns were being killed for their blood, which will let you live a bit longer. They suspected it was Lord Voldemort, trying to live just a bit longer until he could get the stone, which would make him live forever and he could regain his power. So the kids decided to try and get the stone before snape could steal it for Voldemort and go on crazy trip under the school to save the stone, then find out in the end that Snape was trying to protect it and that it was a totally unsuspecting professor that was helping Voldemort. The high wizard, Dumbledore, rewards enough points in the end to Gryffindor because of Harry and his friends' bravery, that Gryffindor wins house cup. I loved this book because it is fast-paced and very creative. The author made up almost every detail in this story and it is just amazing how creative it is! I would highly recommend this book!
