The first three chapters were awesome. I've never read this book before and I am loving it so far. I've seen all the movies and I think I like the book better. The book is so descriptive and I like the beginning how it explains every thing so clear. Harry's parents were killed by Voldemort and he was taken to his only family the Dursleys. The Dursleys don't like Harry or his parents they told Harry his parents died in a car crash. Harry saw that strange things happened like his hair growing out very fast when he had really ugly haircuts. When it was the Dursley's son Dudley's birthday they took him to the zoo and when they were in the reptiles house Harry began to talk to a snake, when Dudley and his friend went to see what was happening the glass that separated the snake from the people vanished and the snake was free. Then Harry began to get letters. He didn't know who they were from, but his uncle Vernon did not let him read any of the letters. Harry really wanted to read the letter, his uncle Vernon and aunt Petunia knew exactly what was happening. One a Sunday when there was no mail a bunch of Harry's letters began to come down the chimney so Vernon decided to leave the house and they roamed around for a day until Vernon decided to move in the middle of the sea where it was very stormy. The next day would be Harry's birthday, he was counting down from Dudley's watch. When Harry was counting down and it was twelve in the morning and then someone knocked down the door...

Sorry I'm super late to join.
I've read this book before, but it was four years ago (I think). I always try to picture myself in the story somehow, so sorry if I seem to think it's real while I am on here. This book is always a slow start for me, but I love to read it anyways. I always feel sorry for Harry. In the book and the movie, the Dursleys are the worst people I could imagine. I just want to jump into the book and give Harry his letters and then tell him that he is a wizard. I wonder, since, as Leslie said, Harry noticed the strange things happening, if Harry would have thought even in his wildest dreams that he was a wizard. I am a big Harry Potter fan so, I have a Pottermore account. If you read the books along with doing the Pottermore journey thing though, it will help you understand where J. K. Rowling got her ideas, and it will help you understand the book more. It would be a good thing to look into if you're not quite understanding something about the book. This book is fantastic. I can not wait to read more of it. I hope Harry has the best birthday of his life in the next chapter.

I have never read Harry potter but I loved the movies so I said give it a go. I think it is interesting at the beging of the book were they make the Dursley look like a perfect family and they didn't want that to go away. They said that Potters can't mix with them. I thought it was pretty neat how the professor turned from a cat to her normal self and I also wired that they give Harry to the Dursley because the Dursley hate the Potters so why do it. I would like to know what the letter says. Harry was pretty much living in a prison. Dumbledore says Harry is going to important but yet he is treated like a outcast. I wish the snake would have got that little bratt but Harry found out something about himself that could lead on in the book. Why can't they just give the kid the letter.

Well your right why give them Harry, well I think it was the only way to get him out of their world, but I really don't know. I too would like to know what the letter said since the Dursleys knew everything then probably it was explaining everything that had happened. and I'm glad your enjoying the book too.

I have never been a fan of Harry Potter, but this book might just change my mind. Just after reading the first 3 chapters, I can tell that this book will keep me into it until the end. The concept of the story is also quite interesting, with The Dursley's and their strange way of life and how they treat Harry. I hope that throughout this story I will find this story much more interesting and though provoking than I had originally thought that it was. So far, I have enjoyed the book and I would recommend this book to others.
Note: I will have to put the last 1 or 2 posts (chapters 13-17) early because I leave for an overnight camp on the 21st of July.

The more I move into the book the more I want to read it. The book is so much different then the movie then I thought and I actually like the book better now. It so cool how Harry is getting ready to go to Hogwarts and how he met his two best friends without knowing it. I wish the movie was just as descriptive as the book. I also like how Mr. Ollivander measured Harry so much and how fascinated Mr. Ollivander got when he couldn't find the right wand for Harry. I also like how the book explains what every wand is made of. I am loving this book so I am going to keep reading it until the end and who knows may be read it more than once.
